Description:

The icon is located in the Stara Skvaryava Church but was not originally part of the iconostasis. It was placed separately in the church space, indicating the special veneration of this saint. The Stara Skvaryava iconostasis already included an icon of this saint by the mid-18th century. In Ukrainian churches, the main focus was typically on the iconostasis, while individual icons were placed on the side walls or in the sanctuary. These icons were either highly venerated or offered by donors for specific reasons or as a testament to the cult of particular saints or holidays.

The icon follows the traditional iconography that formed in the late 16th – early 17th century. St. Nicholas is depicted in a half-length figure in episcopal robes, wearing a mitre on his head.
