Description:

This icon depicts one of the miracles of Jesus Christ. The Gospels tell the story of a man who was blind from birth and used to beg near the temple in Jerusalem. Among the Jews, congenital disabilities were often considered punishments for the sins of one's parents, and the disciples of Jesus pointed this out to him. However, Jesus approached the blind man, spat on the ground, mixed the saliva with mud, and applied it to the man's eyes. He then instructed the man to go and wash in the Pool of Siloam, after which the man's sight was restored.

The moment when Jesus touches the eyes of the blind man is conveyed on the icon. In the central composition, you can see the man born blind dressed in light-colored clothing, standing in front of Christ. To the right, Jesus applies the mud to his eyes. Behind Christ stands one of the apostles.
