The exhibition "By This Sign You Will Conquer" opened on December 19th 2024. This is an exhibition of works by participants of the icon-painting residency, which took place in August of this year in the city of Zhovkva with the financial support of the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation.

Fourteen artists who participated in the art residency studied the Zhovkva icon-painting tradition, the sacred wooden heritage of the villages of Stara Skvariava, Potelych, Krekhiv, and Volia Vysotska. The project aims to draw the attention of artists to the ancient local icon-painting tradition, as well as to support and actualize our faith and memory in times of war.

According to the curator of the project, art critic Maria Tsymbalista: "Fourteen images speak to us not so much about the past, but about the present. About our land and those who live on it today, about martyrdom and struggle, about the cross and blood. After all, the sign of our victory is not an abstraction. We are witnessing how the living history of Ukraine is sanctified by the sacrifice of saints, including our contemporaries. The artists told this story of ours in the language of 'eternity', the language of the icon, with universal and well-known signs and symbols, which they so organically weave into the Christian story from the creation of the world."

The author of the idea, head of the NGO "Ecology. Culture. Art", staff member of museum, is Sofia Kaskun.

The exhibition will be on display until April 2025.
