On October 1, our museum opened the photo exhibition “Jerusalem is not just a city.” The exhibition shows the inhabitants of Jerusalem through the eyes of Dmitry Brikman, a talented photographer from Israel.
In his works, the author addresses the idea of Jerusalem as a meeting place of cultures and traditions, where the histories, beliefs, and spiritual practices of people of different nationalities are intertwined.
One of the central parts of the exhibition is Brikman’s film “Prayer of Jerusalem,” which the author himself calls a photo translation. The idea of the film is based on imagining what a joint prayer of representatives of different religions and nationalities would look and sound like if they gathered together in a city that has been a spiritual center for many for millennia. The artist draws attention to how these prayers could be heard side by side, but without distinctions and barriers.
The event was held with the support of the Embassy of Israel in Ukraine.
